In this unit, pupils build on the quality, legibility and consistency of their handwriting through the written application of spelling and conventions of speech. In 'Building fluency through speed, choice and writing dialogue', pupils develop their handwriting speed and use of writing implements suited to different tasks. 

In 'Building fluency in silent letters, homophones and common exception words', pupils practised their handwriting with a focus on increasing legibility, consistency and quality.  In this unit, pupils build on the quality, legibility and consistency of their handwriting through the written application of spelling and conventions of speech. 

In this unit, pupils develop the quality and consistency of their handwriting. After reviwing the four joins, pupils write words with the suffixes -tion, -cian, -sion, and -ssion in cursive.They also practise cursive writing with homophones, common exception words, famous quotations and a poem.

Building  fluency in the four joins, suffixes and common exception words

a letter or group of letters at the end of a word which creates another word

a naming word for a person, place or thing

a group of letters that are written together in a word

words that sound the same but have different meanings and spellings

the amount of space between individual letters in a word, ensuring they are evenly spread out for clear and legible writing
