In this unit, pupils studied the main reasons for migration in the medieval period looking at how the economy was the driving force behind increasing migration. In ‘Migration: how far was England changed by early modern migration?’ pupils will consider how far reasons for migration shifted as the Reformation brought drastic change across Europe.

In ‘Thematic study: how has the role of women in British society changed?’ pupils studied how women’s roles and societal expectations have continued to change and develop in British society, beginning with a look at medieval society. In this, another thematic unit, pupils will consider how society changed in the medieval period and the impact this had on migration.

In this unit, pupils learn about medieval migration to Britain. They examine Viking, Norman, and Jewish migration, analysing the impact this had on Britain, with a particular focus on England.

In this unit, pupils will study how far significant worldwide events affected migration to Britain.

In this unit, pupils evaluate the experiences of migrants in the modern period. They learn about post-war migration from Britain's former colonies and its impact on race relations. They then learn about the impact of Britain's EU membership and the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers.

In this unit, pupils studied the experience of migrants in Notting Hill in the modern period. In ‘Anglo-Saxon and Norman England: who had power in Anglo-Saxon England?’, pupils will study the experiences of people in Anglo-Saxon society and consider who held power in that period.

In ‘Migration: how far have migrants been welcomed in modern Britain’, pupils studied how far attitudes towards migrants continued to shift as race played an increasingly significant role in the experiences of migrants. In this unit, pupils will study how changing attitudes and the role of race directly impacted migrant communities in Notting Hill.
