In this unit pupils will examine issues around sexuality, the family and relationships. They will study how Christians and other worldviews understand ideas of family and marriage and address how these affect views on issues such as divorce.

Issues of Relationships

voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is not their spouse; also known as sex outside of marriage

a formal declaration that a marriage was not valid

non-religious, secular e.g. civil marriage

another marriage after a previous marriage has ended (following divorce or widowhood)

someone with the belief that there are certain actions that are always right or always wrong

regulation of births; planning when to have a family and how many children to have by using birth control and /or contraception

having a child; seen as a duty in many religions
