In this Naming and grouping animals unit, pupils learn to group animals according to what they eat. In the Introduction to food chains unit they will build on this knowledge to learn about simple feeding relationships

Pupils will draw upon prior learning about animals in EYFS and their own everyday experiences. In this Naming and grouping animals unit, pupils will build on this knowledge to identify and name a variety of common animals and learn about different ways animals can be grouped

This unit focuses on asking simple questions, identifying and classifying common animals, and gathering data. It includes identifying animals like fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals, categorising them as carnivores, herbivores, or omnivores, and comparing their structures.
