Description

In this unit pupils explore key nutritional needs throughout life, and allergies, food labelling, portion size and health conditions. They plan dishes and menus, and describe how diets can be changed for health to meet the needs of different groups of people.

Dietary and nutritional needs change throughout life, and being able to plan diets for the needs of different people is important to minimise any potential consequences of poor diet. This builds on work in Year 8 around the name, source and function of different nutrients, and the application of healthy eating guidelines. Going forward, pupils will have the knowledge, skills and strategies to plan diets and make meals for themselves and others, now and in the future.

  1. Nutritional needs throughout life
  2. Health conditions
  3. Making pea and mint falafel, with tzatziki
