Description

This unit develops pupils' knowledge of food choice, and how occasion and location can have an influence. Food skills and nutrition understanding are further developed through practical work, and the use of components are explored.

Throughout life, a variety of factors affect the food and drink we choose, some of which are personal preferences, while others are cultural, linked to occasion, and where we are and who we are with. Building on previous work around Food culture and Consumer awareness in Year 6, pupils critique choices and suggest alternatives. Looking forward to Year 8, pupils address the influence of ingredient availability, cuisine, cooking technique, and equipment on food choice locally and around the world.

  1. Factors affecting food choice
  2. Making a Chicago style pizza
  3. Making Jollof rice
