Description

In this unit, pupils learn about Irish and Jewish migration and migration within the British Empire. Pupils examine imperial propaganda and the impact of the World Wars on migration to and from Britain.

This unit uses and builds on the previous key stage 4 unit which focused on the growth of Britain's empire in India and Africa. Like the previous unit, it enriches and develops pupils' knowledge and understanding of the British Empire that they built in previous year 8 and 9 units. This unit prepares pupils for the next, where migration to and from Britain is examined in the modern era, in the years after the Second World War.
