      Pupils will be ready to build on their knowledge by connecting memory, history, protest, and personal expression through more advanced techniques. Pupils can move beyond simply making art to considering how images carry meaning. This unit introduces more complex processes (carbon transfer, silhouette work, screen printing), which stretch their creative skills and prepare them for Key Stage 3.

      Prior knowledge requirements

      • Basic confidence with cutting, gluing, drawing, and collage.
      • Familiarity with using paint, stencils, and simple printmaking techniques
      • Ability to notice and describe shapes, colours, and symbols in images.
      • Some experience of talking about what an artwork shows or makes them feel.
      • Experience of working in small groups on a shared creative task.
