Why this why now

This unit develops ability to communicate about topics related to popular culture, media, and technology. Pupils will use a range of new vocabulary and consolidate already known grammar as they discuss topics which form part of everyday lives in modern society. The use of negative structures, following on from previous units focusing on these, will enable pupils to discuss the limitations and risks, as well as the benefits, of social media, computers, and celebrity culture. These structures can be applied to all future KS4 topics where there is an element of opinion and debate.

Prior knowledge requirements

  • Pupils know how to use ne...pas correctly to negate sentences in all tenses.
  • Pupils know that articles following ne...pas are replaced with 'de'.
  • Pupils know how to use ne...jamais, ne...rien, ne...plus, ne...personne, and ne...pas encore to negate sentences.
  • Pupils know how to form the present tense of regular and some key irregular verbs.
  • Pupils know how to form the perfect tense of regular and some key irregular verbs.
