This unit uses and builds on pupils' knowledge of England and Britain from the Stone Age to the early modern period that they built in key stages 2 and 3. This unit prepares pupils for the units they study in year 11, where some of the same themes relating to power, governance and religion are touched on again in both the period study and the modern depth study.
Prior knowledge requirements
- An overview knowledge of England between the 8th and 11th centuries, with a focus on the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms, Viking invasion and settlement, and the creation of Anglo-Saxon England.
