Common misconception
Pupils may find it difficult to identify the multiples of 10 a number is between when estimating.
Provide a number line and continue to use stem sentences to support pupils in their thinking.
Estimation is a key skill and should be modelled clearly, with pupils encouraged to use estimation at every opportunity. Take time to model your 'thinking aloud' process while estimating.
