In this unit, pupils learn about the roles of government and parliament and how they are organised. They explore how elections work and what the role of political parties and MPs are.

In this unit students explore the roles and responsibilities of the media and the important role it plays within society.

In this unit, pupils explore what the law is and how criminal and civil laws are made. They examine what role citizens can have in changing the law and consider how the justice system should apply to young people.

In this unit, pupils explore the different ways citizens can take action and what role this plays in democracy.

Pupils analyse how political rights have changed over time considering important campaigns such as the fight for female suffrage. They examine why voting matters and consider what role they can have in democracy prior to being eligible to vote.

Using a range of case studies from human rights to fracking and climate action, pupils consider how they can take responsible action to tackle some of the challenges currently facing society.
