In this unit pupils learn how to manipulate indices and perform calculations without conversion by understanding index laws.

This unit builds on the index work covered in the previous unit to formalise laws around indices.

  11. Problem solving with the laws of indices

  • Understand and apply powers and roots
  • Use rules for multiplying and dividing powers
