Description

In this unit pupils investigate how to calculate the area and perimeter of rectilinear shapes, and composite shapes using rectangles and triangles. They will also derive simple area formulae.

This unit requires some confidence in the use of formulae and simple algebra, hence it has been positioned after pupils have done some work on algebraic manipulation and number operations. This unit also prepares pupils for further work on geometry later in the year.
