Common misconception
Pupils may assume that multiples of 5 and 10 are multiples of 10
Show children the relationship between 5s and 10s using the multiplication chart and number line. Make clear that even multiples of 5 are multiples of 10 Not all multiples of 10 are multiples of 5 Encourage discussions to highlight the relationship.
Continue to chorally rehearse 5s and 10s within and outside of this lesson. The more children can recall the more confident they will feel.
