In this unit, pupils embed and secure knowledge of common irregular verbs. They refresh their knowledge of adjectival agreement and learn irregular feminine forms of some high frequency adjectives. Word order variations are introduced with the pre-nominal position of certain common adjectives. Revisiting high frequency vocabulary, high-frequency irregular verbs, two verb structures and sound-symbol correspondences, this unit anchors core knowledge, providing practice in listening, speaking, reading, translation and writing as pupils develop comprehension skills and communicative competence.

- Pupils know that many adjectives can be made feminine by adding an 'e'.

- Pupils can use irregular verbs avoir, être, faire and aller in the present tense.
- Pupils can use ne...pas to negate a sentence.
