Pupils explore how rights have developed in the UK and how they are protected. They look at what changes in society have occurred due to protest.

Understanding the necessity of the right to protest in a democracy builds on pupils' knowledge of rights, justice and the law and their knowledge of active citizenship. This unit explores the role of protest in influencing change and protecting freedoms. It challenges pupils to critically consider what methods are acceptable to create change, supporting them to develop as informed and responsible citizens.
