Description

In this unit, pupils learn about various migrants to England in the early modern period. They investigate how Flemish, Walloon, African, Huguenot and Jewish migrants all came to England and the changes this brought about.

This unit uses and builds on the previous key stage 4 unit which focused on medieval migration. It also develops pupils' knowledge about the early modern period, the Atlantic World and the Transatlantic Slave Trade that they built in parts of year 7 and year 8. This unit prepares pupils for the next, where migration is examined during the 18th and 19th century.
