After three units looking at Abrahamic faiths, pupils move to a close study of dharmic traditions. Building on learning in primary, pupils will look at dharma using a philosophical lens seeing how it shapes an understanding of the world. Examining Buddhist and Sikh dharma will enable pupils to make connections between these worldviews.

Prior knowledge requirements

  • Pupils will know that worldviews such as Hindu Dharma and Sikhi originated in India.
  • Pupils will know that dharmic traditions have a different origin to Abrahamic traditions.
  • Pupils will be able to name the worldviews of Hindu Dharma, Sikhi and Buddhism.
  • Pupils will know that philosophers ask important questions about reality and truth.
