Description

In this unit, pupils revisit numbers and learn more about Christmas traditions in Spain, specifically ‘El Gordo’, the national Christmas lottery. They practise the full range of known sound-spelling links by listening and joining in with a traditional Christmas song in Spanish.

Pupils will already know some information about Christmas in Spain and Peru. This unit deepens their knowledge of this important cultural event widely celebrated in the Hispanic world. Pupils learn about the Spanish tradition of ‘El Gordo’, the Christmas lottery, and revisit numbers. They also listen to and join in with a traditional Christmas song in Spanish, adding to the range of texts they respond to and further strengthening knowledge of all previously taught sound-symbol correspondences.
