Description

In this unit pupils apply their knowledge of third person singular and plural -ar and -er verbs and new determiners ‘mucho’ and ‘todo’ to understand and communicate about festivals in Spain and Peru; the Tomatina, Fiestas Patrias and Inti Raymi, as well as aspects of Spain’s physical geography.

This unit secures knowledge of third person singular and plural -ar and -er verbs. Having previously learnt about several cities and festivals, the unit extends pupils’ cultural knowledge of places where Spanish is spoken, focusing on the Tomatina festival in Spain, and Fiestas Patrias and Inti Raymi celebrations in Peru, as pupils now have the depth of linguistic knowledge to support this. New knowledge of important adjectival determiners ‘mucho’ and ‘todo’ is introduced and developed through the unit and will be revisited in further units.

  1. La Tomatina: -ar and -er verbs 'she, he' vs. 'they'
  2. La Tomatina: describe a visit to the festival using -ar and -er verbs
  3. Fiestas Patrias: 'mucho' and 'todo'
  4. Inti Raymi: understanding information about the festival
  5. Physical geography: 'muchos' and 'muchas'
  6. In Spain: 'hay', 'muchos' and 'muchas'

  • Pupils know singular and plural forms of -ar and -er verbs in the present tense.
  • Pupils know a range of -ar and -er verbs.
