Keywords

  • Princess - a princess is a girl who is closely related to the king and queen

  • Nickname - a nickname is a different name someone’s friends or family use for them

  • Archbishop of Canterbury - the Archbishop of Canterbury is the leader of the Church of England

Common misconception

Pupils may think that the Archbishop of Canterbury is a part of the royal family.

Reinforce the fact that the Archbishop of Canterbury works with the royal family and is also very important, but is not related.

As you work through the lesson, refer to popular culture to help pupils make sense of terms such as 'princess'. You could encourage discussion of pupil experiences and histories such as their own nicknames, celebratory dinners and places of worship.
