Description

This unit teaches pupils about tropical rainforest and taiga biomes. Pupils learn about its biotic and abiotic characteristics, the adaptations of plants and animals and the threats facing its biodiversity. The unit considers opposing views on protecting and exploiting resources.

Pupils can build on their knowledge of ecosystems and biomes developed in earlier lessons to develop an understanding of the characteristics and threats facing tropical rainforest and taiga biomes. Pupils will be able to apply their knowledge in subsequent units focusing on global development and resource management.
