Description

This unit teaches pupils about river processes and landforms. Pupils will learn about the physical processes operating in rivers and about the formation of distinctive landforms of river erosion and deposition. Pupils will also learn about the importance and options of river management.

Pupils can build on their previous knowledge of the UK's physical geography by studying river processes and landforms. Teaching this unit provides pupils with a template to studying physical environments by considering processes, landforms and management. This enables comparison to be made with coasts in the next unit. Knowledge gained will also support the fieldwork unit.
