Description

This unit develops pupils' knowledge of the characteristics of non-woven fabrics and their joining techniques. Pupils analyse the techniques used to make fabric products and then apply this knowledge by designing and making a fabric puppet.

Understanding how textile products are assembled builds the foundation for future textile units. Pupils will have explored different fabrics during the Early Years Foundation Stage and have knowledge of some of their properties. Knowledge and skills within this unit focus on non-woven fabrics and simple joining techniques. It lays the foundations for the future textiles unit in '2D shapes to 3D products: stationery storage'.
