Description

In this unit, pupils read and explore the folktale, 'Anansi and the Antelope Baby'. They use retrieval and inference to develop their comprehension of the text. Finally, pupils will explore the key themes and engage in rich discussions.

This unit uses and builds on learning around the features of traditional stories and morals, which is explored in the prior unit, 'Mulan'. In 'Anansi and the Antelope Baby', pupils will read a traditional folk tale and will develop their understanding of what a moral is. Pupils will continue to develop their skills of retrieval, inference and summarising to gain deeper understanding of the story.
