Description

This unit explores what makes the local area special by identifying key features, landmarks and places of interest. Pupils use maps, address and direction language, local climate knowledge and fieldwork to describe and represent their locality.

This unit consolidates pupils’ geographical understanding by revisiting their local area through enriched knowledge of features, mapping and place significance. Positioned at the end of Year 2, it prepares pupils to make meaningful comparisons with other places in future study.
