Description

This unit introduces sustainability by exploring how human choices affect the environment. Pupils learn about energy use, food waste, biodiversity and urban living, and consider how individuals and communities can work towards a more sustainable future.

This unit brings together key ideas from across Year 5 to help pupils explore how our lives affect the planet and what can be done in response. Its placement encourages reflection on prior learning about forests, energy and climate, while developing a broader understanding of sustainability. Pupils learn to evaluate different human behaviours and consider positive changes individuals and communities can make.
