This unit is an introduction to the increased philosophical demands of KS3 and the ways of knowing that will be utilised. It introduces named thinkers and sets the foundation for understanding the Worldviews approach which will become increasingly important as pupils explore contentious ethical dilemmas and develop personal knowledge.

- Pupils understand what is meant by a worldview.
- Pupils know that people can have different worldviews; some may be religious and some non-religious.
- Pupils know that philosophy is about thinking critically about an issue.

Philosophy
Blik: how do I interpret the world around me?
In this unit pupils are introduced to the idea of philosophy through an overview of key Greek thinkers. From this they will focus on R M Hare and the idea that all humans have a worldview. This will lay foundations for all the work they will do in RE in Key Stage 3.
