Description

Pupils will develop knowledge and skills of communication, including freehand 3D sketching using the crating technique. They will learn how to render to show texture and tone. They will also learn how to draw using more formal techniques, such as one-point perspective and orthographic projection.

Proficient drawing skills enable pupils to communicate increasingly complex designs confidently. This unit focuses on developing knowledge and skills in drawing techniques to communicate designs in various ways. It builds upon the previous unit in Year 6, 'Cams,' where pupils learn about cross-sectional diagrams. Knowledge within this unit progresses so pupils confidently communicate designs using suitable strategies in the Year 8 unit, 'Controllers,' and Year 10, 'Student living.'
