Description

Pupils will gather and analyse ergonomic and anthropometric data to inform the design of a game controller. Pupils will be introduced to polymer properties and processes. They will develop and apply foam and complex card modelling techniques to manufacture their product.

To create effective designs, pupils must understand the users' needs. This involves empathising and gathering user feedback throughout iterative designing. This unit builds on the inclusive design knowledge in the Year 5 unit 'Combining fabrics: accessible textiles'. This unit will enable pupils to design with greater empathy in the Year 10 unit 'Inclusive design: An ageing population' and during the Non-Examined Assessment.
