Description

In this unit, pupils use plural 'faire' to communicate effectively about household chores, 2-verb phrases to say what they like to do, and new verbs 'acheter' and 'boire' with the partitive to talk about picnic items. Finally, they combine knowledge to understand and write about summer activities.

This unit builds on prior knowledge of singular verb 'faire', introducing plural forms to extend pupils' communicative range. 2-verb structures with 'aimer' are secured. Extending article knowledge, pupils are introduced to the partitive 'du, de la, de l' with the twin concepts of whole (countable) and parts (uncountable) nouns, using them alongside two new high frequency verbs 'acheter' and 'boire'. To reflect a steadily developing range of vocabulary, pupils conclude the unit by reading and responding to a longer text, composing their own message, making effective use of reference resources.
