  • Networks

Description

In this unit pupils will explore the impact networks have on our daily lives. They will define what a network is and explore the benefits of networking, before covering how data is transmitted across networks using protocols. They will investigate different types of network and hardware required.

This unit progresses students' knowledge and understanding of networks and associated hardware. The unit will establish an understanding of how data is transmitted across networks, as well as exploring the factors that can affect performance. Pupils will spend time focussing on the internet and services provided over the internet. They build on lessons learnt about privacy in KS2 and understand how default sharing of data collects personal information about users. This is explored in more detail during later units as pupils' use of technology increases both in and out of school.
