In this unit pupils are gradually introduced to binary digits and how they are used to represent text and numbers. Pupils build upon their familiarity using a decimal numbering system in order to draw analogies with how numbers can be represented in binary. Pupils also learn the prefixes used for measuring representation size, such as kilo, mega and giga.
