Description

This unit takes pupils on a journey of discovery about techniques used by cybercriminals to steal data, disrupt systems and infiltrate networks. They will consider the value of data to organisations and what it is used for. They will look at social engineering techniques and common cybercrimes.

As pupils grow older and begin using a wider range of digital tools, they increasingly interact with networks that connect across the world. This unit develops their understanding of online threats, moving beyond the basic risks they have encountered so far. Pupils learn about the scale of these threats at individual, organisational and governmental levels and, crucially, the steps they can take to protect themselves and their data. This empowers them to act safely and responsibly, both in their personal lives and in future work settings where secure practices are essential.

  1. Protecting personal data
  2. Social engineering
  3. Hacking and brute force attacks
  4. Malicious software
