Description

In this unit pupils will be develop their understanding of computer networks by looking at network models and the tasks performed by network hardware. They will discover the differences between wired and wireless transmission media and the factors that can affect the performance of a network.

Having already explored the basics of networks, pupils are now ready to examine how they function in greater depth. Understanding network models, hardware and data transmission is essential for appreciating how modern communication systems operate. By analysing how networks are built and managed, pupils develop a deeper awareness of the systems that underpin digital communication and the importance of reliability, speed and security in an interconnected world.
