Home learning: advanced dance

Description

This unit uses a thematic approach with body language and improvisation to express emotions and feelings. Pupils develop movement ideas beyond those introduced. Open-ended tasks encourage varied responses, building creative thinking and expressive skills.

This unit offers scope for pupils to draw upon prior learning and combine performative, choreographic and stylistic features to produce a range of effects and be able to accurately identify the strengths and weaknesses in their own work. Pupils will be able to make recommendations for improvement.

  1. Dance: can you use body language to express your emotions?
  2. Dance: can you use improvisation to articulate your feelings?

  • Pupils know the importance of the foundations of action-space-dynamics-relationships.
  • Pupils understand how to draw upon a range of stimuli and respond with a range of methods to translate the concept into movement.
  • Pupils are able to combine choreographic and performative concepts to achieve artistic aims.
  • Pupils show an ability to review their own work using the correct terminology, objective analysis and insight.
