Description

This unit will build on fundamental skills and apply tactics to overcome opponents through futsal. Development of basic ball control, passing, shooting, dribbling, marking and tackling skills with determination in small sided games. Pupils will learn the rules of futsal and names of major muscles.

Pupils will already have explored principles of keeping possession of a ball either in hand or at feet in ‘donor’ sports and scenarios (core tasks). Pupils will now apply that learning to move on and off the ball to create space, to create options and to outwit others in futsal. The heavier ball lends itself to small sided games, increased control and keeping the ball on the floor to support less experienced pupils and level the playing field. Later in invasion games they will also apply these principles to netball.

  1. Movement with the ball: dribbling, receiving and turning
  2. Passing and movement off the ball
  3. Positioning and creating options when attacking
  4. Score and add a defender to increase complexity
  5. Building a team to perform together
  6. Officiating games
