Description

This unit will explore basic agility, balance and coordination skills with a focus on ball control and challenges to develop competence in a range of games. Pupils will need to think creatively to modify the ideas presented to them whilst producing personal best performances.

Pupils will already have experienced simple target games and understand basic principles of attack and defence. They will explore ways to control and manipulate a ball with their hands and/or feet, whilst setting increasing complex challenges to accomplish and also design games that provide an immersive experience to practice their ball handling skills.

  1. Games: can you hit targets from different ranges and positions?
  2. Games: can you roll a ball with accuracy and adjust your tactics?
  3. Games: can you use an implement to keep a ball up?
  4. Games: can you dribble a ball with your hands and your feet?

  • Pupils know that all games have similar features of attacking and defensive play to either score or deny scoring opportunities respectively.
  • Pupils understand that football, netball, rugby, basketball and handball are all examples of invasion games with different rules.
  • Pupils are able to control and pass a ball in a variety of ways.
  • Pupils show a willingness to try new activities and focus on improving their skills.
