Home learning: moving with confidence

4 lessons

Description

This unit will support the development of quality movement by focusing on form, body control and foundational movement skills such as agility, balance and coordination. Pupils will be challenged to accurately replicate an increasingly complex variety of movements with control and fluency.

Pupils will already have experienced basic movement tasks to include exploring how to balance, rotate and safe ways to land. Pupils will now refine their technique and body awareness to execute more challenging skills and build more complex sequences of movement.

  1. Movement: can you jump in different ways using the appropriate technique?
  2. Movement: can you balance in different ways with an appreciation of the task?
  3. Movement: can you throw with accuracy whilst on the move?
  4. Movement: can you perform fine and gross motor skills?

  • Pupils know that good body control and an awareness of safety is essential and includes always working within personal capabilities.
  • Pupils understand that improving individual skills requires focus and dedication to practice.
  • Pupils are able to perform basic forms of locomotion and balances with good body form.
  • Pupils show an awareness of the dedication and hours required to see significant improvements in movement quality, control and fluency.
