Description

This unit will enhance pupils' ability to respond effectively to physical challenges and problems. A key focus will be on developing planning and strategic thinking by requiring pupils to methodically solve problems under time constraints. Pupils will develop critical reflection skills.

Pupils will already have developed basic skills to operate as a team but this unit challenges pupils to apply them in unique scenarios that require problem solving and creative thinking. Later in outdoor adventurous activities, pupils will get the opportunity to engage in activities beyond the school walls which will further develop their teamwork and leadership skills.

  1. OAA: can you plan a strategy to navigate a space with limitations?
  2. OAA: can you think methodically to solve a problem against the clock?
  3. OAA: can you break down a task to solve a problem then reflect on it?

  • Pupils know the importance of using logical and creative thinking to solve problems.
  • Pupils understand that in order to improve, we need to reflect on both the positives and negatives of our performance.
  • Pupils are able to work under pressure, often against the clock.
  • Pupils show patience and resilience when faced with a challenging task.
