Description

This unit will develop pupils’ ability to design and carry out a training programme with a focus on physical fitness and commitment to exercise that is enjoyable and tailored. Pupils will also learn about nutrition to help support them in living a healthy and active life beyond school.

Pupils will have already enhanced their understanding of how to set SMART targets that support a meaningful and motivating fitness programme. They will have learnt about some of the benefits and types of training programmes available to them.

  1. Training intensity: how long can you keep working at a high intensity?
  2. Training intensity: can you combine a core workout with sprint work?

  • Pupils know that good technique above everything else is important when completing exercises designed to improve our fitness.
  • Pupils understand that everyone has different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to fitness and that goals must be individualised.
  • Pupils are able to adapt their training to make it easier or harder to ensure they are being effectively challenged.
  • Pupils show resilience to keep going when fitness programmes are challenging.
