Description

Through three recipes, pupils showcase accurate and precise food skills through dicing, weighing and measuring, and portioning, as well as presentation techniques. Pupils will be more confident and show greater independence in their cooking.

Becoming more secure and confident in preparing and cooking food enables us to work more independently, competently and accurately. These learning experiences enable further exploration of recipes and cuisines. This builds on Year 5, adapting recipes for different needs and broadening recipe repertoire, bringing together multiple threads, including Food preparation and cooking, and Food hygiene and safety. This sets the scene for transitioning to Year 7, where food skills and knowledge will be applied to working in a different environment, using an extended range of ingredients and equipment.

  1. Making patatas bravas
  2. Making a UK fruit tray bake
  3. Making a tear 'n' share pizza

  • Pupils will be able to get ready to cook, so that they are safe and hygienic.
  • Pupils will be able to weigh and measure ingredients.
  • Pupils will be able to modify some basic recipes.
  • Pupils will be able to demonstrate the 'bridge hold' and 'claw grip' cutting techniques.
  • Pupils will be able to talk about their work and suggest improvements.
