Description

This unit introduces pupils to food and gives them their first opportunity to prepare simple dishes. Pupils use different food skills and equipment, and learn about handling food safely and hygienically.

Knowing how to prepare and cook food equips us with the ability to create healthy dishes and meals, gaining food skills and knowledge which can be applied in the future. Learning is framed through familiar contexts and experiences from the Early Years Foundation Stage Early Learning Goals, such as Managing self and language skills, are further developed. In future units, food skills are revisited to develop accuracy, and new skills introduced. A greater range of recipes from around the world are used to expand learning and provide different food experiences.

  1. Let's make a layered breakfast
  2. Let's make some veggie snacks
  3. Let's make butter bean hummus on crackers
