Description

This unit focuses on food and drink being essential for life. Pupils examine food preferences and the different factors of food choice, and make and evaluate a dish using their senses.

Having an appreciation of the importance of food and drink for our health is fundamental. It provides the sustenance for us to grow, be active and maintain health. Building on the Early Years Foundation Stage Early Learning Goals, Aspects of managing self, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, and Physical development, progress. In future units, the threads of Sensory evaluation and Healthy eating and nutrition are explored and enhanced, with the Eatwell Guide being introduced in Year 2.

  • Pupils will know that we grow from a child to an adult.
