Description

In this unit pupils taste a range of bread and explore different varieties from around the world. They examine how and why bread is eaten on special occasions, and plan and make a bread 'pocket' for a special occasion.

Bread is a staple food across the globe, available in a huge range of sizes, shapes, flavours and finishes. It also has deep cultural and religious significance. Through the context of bread, learning around the threads of Consumer awareness and Food culture are further developed from Year 1. Future units expand pupils' experience, introducing more unfamiliar foods, and global tastes and cuisines.

  1. Bread for all
  2. World wide bread
  3. Making a coronation chickpea pocket
