Description

In this unit pupils explore the origins of foods, listing foods that are grown, reared and caught. They construct simple 'farm to fork' food chains showing how food changes from its origin to consumption.

Our food is grown, reared or caught. Knowing the origin of food, and how it is produced and changed from its origin to consumption, allows us to make informed choices. This builds on the Food origins and provenance thread in Year 1, that food is from plants and animals. This thread is further developed in Year 3, creating more complex 'farm to fork' food chains, and learning about different food origins and production around the world.
