Description

The unit of work will explore various tactics and strategies that can be used to solve simple problems and challenges. Throughout the unit, there will be a focus on pupils developing their ideas and evaluating their effectiveness in order to improve.

Throughout KS1, pupils began to develop and apply simple strategies to score points in different activities. This unit prepares pupils for all future learning experiences that centre around solving problems and creating effective tactics and strategies.

  1. Problem solving: can you create effective strategies to cross the river?
  2. Problem solving: can you complete an obstacle course and solve problems?
  3. Problem solving: can you build a den as a base and complete a scavenger hunt?

  • Pupils can follow the rules and keep the score during a game.
  • Pupils know how to apply simple tactics in games.
  • Pupils can create simple strategies to solve problems.
  • Pupils understand how to evaluate and improve ideas.
