Why this why now
Pupils already have a strong understanding of how to score points by using accurate rolling and throwing skills, in this unit, pupils have the opportunity to develop their knowledge further, by applying their skills in a variety of different game situations and contexts. Later in the unit, pupils will learn how to use tactics to increase the likelihood that they can overcome their opponent in games.
Prior knowledge requirements
- Pupils can throw a ball accurately.
- Pupils know why they have to be accurate in order to beat an opponent.
- Pupils know how to throw a ball into space and towards a target.
- Pupils know how to roll a ball into space and towards a target.

This unit will teach pupils how to apply their skills of siding an object accurately into a variety of competitive games. In order to outwit their opponents, pupils will have to think tactically about where and why they are aiming in order to score points.
