Where my food comes from

Downloads can take a few minutes, especially for larger files or slower connections.

Threads

Why this why now

Our food is grown, reared or caught. Knowing the origin of food, and how it is produced and changed from its origin to consumption, allows us to make informed choices. This builds on the Food origins and provenance thread in Year 1, that food is from plants and animals. This thread is further developed in Year 3, creating more complex 'farm to fork' food chains, and learning about different food origins and production around the world.

Prior knowledge requirements

  • Pupils will be able to sort foods into plant and animal origin.
  • Pupils know that food comes from plants or animals.
  • Pupils will able to name a range of foods from plants.
  • Pupils will able to name a range of foods from animals.
